Well this will be my 30 Gallon goldfish tank, gonna giver about another week for everything to settle before I put some of the fish in...
Lemme know what you think, once again I stayed away from "live" plants and wood just because I don't really have the time to take care of the tank all the time.
I do have one question, this happens to my everytime I put 100% new water into a tank and let it sit a week before I put any fish in.
The water turns foggy after two days of it being crystal clear....except its been about 6 days and the foggy water isnt gone in my 30 G yet...any advice...
You don't have to do this, but I would reccomend doing a fishless cycle, or putting in only 2-3 fish every few weeks cuz 9 goldies strait away will be alot to handle, but if you add them in add seperate times it should work a little better, but cycleing the tank before fish is prly the best solution
Well today had some unfortunate events, I had a final today at university but I couldn't do anything about it today, but I was going to put 3 fish in today to get the cycle process going, however I noticed my dresser was all wet, to my surprise the tank is leaking!! Well I bought this tank used off of kijiji, go figures something happens...
So tomorrow I will be spending my day removing all of the water, plants, ornaments and gravel, to attempt to silicon the glass together properly.
1) What are the dimensions of that tank? It doesn't look like a 30G to me, but I can be wrong.
2) You need more surface agitation for goldies
3) I see no heater. You still need one, not for heat, but to keep the temperature steady.
4) How many goldies are you getting? Only 1, maybe 2 or 3 can go in there.
Alright, my bad...the tank wasn't leaking..there was some water stuck behind the background and it finally dropped out from behind the background..thank god!!
I have 9 goldfish going into this 30G tank, there IS enough room, these goldfish are not that big. Also goldfish run off of room temperature water, therefore a heater won't be necessary. I do have a heater tho, But I'm not putting it in as of now.
I have re filled some of the water in the tank to remove the foggy water, it has turned clear again. I have now put my sisters 6 common goldfish into the tank, they were once in a 10 gallon. They are now in the 30 gallon. They look alot happier!!
I'm going to wait another week before I add my orandas and black moor!
As I said before, you need a heater not for heating, but for a steady temperature. Temperature swings are horrible for fish. Since you have one, why not use it?
Looks good if you're into neon. I'm more into the natural habitat looking theme but appreciate what you did with yours.
My bf bought me a 45 gal. hex for christmas with natural gravel substrate but the gravel had a s-load of bright blue stones in it. After I priced the gravel that I wanted to replace it with, I decided to pick out each piece of blue gravel instead. It took us most of a Sunday to do it. Call me a freak but I couldn't live with it.
