New tank! 6 tiger barbs at the moment. Adding more fish soon! Tanks has some Nymphaea lilly and hybrid aponogeton growing in it. I'm planning on adding some cory cats, a pleco, a snail(gregg), maybe some molly, and a male betta.

I love the picture of your tank, under the led lights.
I love my tiger barbs. They have a lot of personality, but I would not trust them with a betta or any fish with long flowing fins.
Tiger barbs are likely to nip.

I've added 4 black skirt tetras, a pleco, and a chinese algae eater to my tank since my last post. They all seem to be getting along fine, a little nipping here and there but everyone have full, bright color and none of them are losing any fin. The tetra and barb schools actually seem to be intermingling, so that's nice. I've also planted the tank with a number of plants, may have went a bit overboard, looks a bit like a jungle. I'll post some pictures later tonight probably.

After watching the fish I have in the tank now for the last few days, I can say that I'm starting to lean away form the betta. I really don't want to have my betta's fins munched down to nothing. However, I do really really want a betta. The tiger barbs were supposed to be my "test" fish, but they've all lived and I'm attached to them now, so I guess I'll have to work the tank around them.

Edit* I just read how the chinese algae eater could potentially become quite the nuisance in the tank. I may have let the lady working at the pet shop doop me into getting that one, I asked her about them and she didn't mention anything about that. I'll have to be more careful in the future!

Very nice tank. You could still get a betta just get another tank thats 2.5 gallon or bigger with a small heater and he will be happy in there. But let me warn you Bettas are addictive. LOL

This picture is the finished aquarium. Right now it has 6 tiger barbs, 4 black tetras, 3 skunk and 3 julii corys, 1 pleco, 1 algae eater, and a snail. I have no idea how the snail got in there, it must have road in on the back of one of the other fish, or perhaps it came in on one of the plants. He's the rogue of the tank! I still don't have a very good camera for close ups, but I'll get some good ones eventually and post them here.

Agree, when i first started my tank i had 4 green tiger barbs, and 2 white angel fish. they killed one of the angels and were nipping away at the other one when i came home from work, so i traded the barbs in
