FANTASTIC pictures of your stunning animals, Izzy. . . I don't think I've ever seen such a lovely shot of a Farlowella. . .makes me happy! ^.^
Sorry to hear that your gourami are refusing to play nice. . . *sigh* Territorial fish with big personalities can make life so difficult, the 'rules' are so dependent on individual temperaments. . . I hope you find a great home for her, and that the other two continue to play nice. :)
I could not keep more then 1 gourami in my 30 gallon but my friend had lots in her 120 I like my rainbows they all get along other then the dwarfs males which have all died off I have females that get along with everyone Posted via Mobile Device
Thanks for the support, everyone. It's crazy, but I think I just ended up with a hyper aggressive female. Doesn't change my love for them, tho. She gets along with the male most time, even eating side by side. But she will have nothing of the sort with the shy female around. The aggressive one stops eating to chase the shy one. From a human perspective it seems like she has a vendetta against the shy girl, but I know it's just aggressiveness. Maybe this would have been different if I'd been able to chose the fish myself.
Good thought, Izzy. . . and one reason I don't like having to buy fish online. Though I'm not so sure . . . do you think you would have been able to get a clear enough picture of this type of aggressive personality while they were in the shop tank? *ponders*
Unfortunately around here I don't have much of a choice. All I ever saw were those color morphs at Petsmart in a tank with diseased fish. It's a risk that I was prepared to take.
I may not have been able to full assess how aggressive she is, but I think I would have seen hints. If she was chasing the fish in the tank store even half as much as she chases the other gourami I would have steered clear of her. But what's done is done.
I hear ya, not meant in any way other than a wonder - one day I will have my Pearls! I've been in the same boat as you for a while. . . though we've finally gotten a new and GOOD LFS again - thank goodness! I imagine they'll stock gourami, wonder if I'll be able to tell when the time comes. I imagine age has a lot to do with these things, too. . .
Haha! A little birdy told you so? Or should I say, ferret? ;)
Everything is going pretty status quo right now. Gourami are doing okay for the time being; they are in one of their okay cycles. But life is pretty busy at the moment. Pictures will have to wait until at least Monday.
