Day 40. 11:50am-12:15pm. Ran water test: pH 8.2; Ammonia 0ppm; NO2 0ppm; NO3 40ppm; dKH 8; dGH 357.2ppm.

The day I've been waiting for! Tank cycled, thank Tetra! (Note that it took 48 hours from the time I added the SafeStart plus to get the bacteria fully functioning).

Delay in shipping on my Tahitian Moon Sand. Package tracking finally puts it on the truck for delivery to me today by 8pm.

Day 41. 10:50-11:05am. Ran water test: pH 8.2; Ammonia 0ppm; NO2 0ppm; NO3 40ppm.

Waiting on Tahitian Moon Sand to get my substrate in the tank; Miracle Gro Organic with plastic mesh over that having big enough holes for roots, but won't let Fluorite Dark on top mix down. TMS will be spread in different areas for Corys & Rams. Starting Apongeton bulbs & Lilly bulb from WalMart.

Tahitian Moon Sand shipped from Petstore.com, Garden Grove, CA, just arrived with the box splitting at the seams. They packed this 20lb bag of sand in a box 4x the size needed, surrounded by packing peanuts! To be slung around by 4 UPS carriers! Well, it barely made it, but I have a few words for Amazon about this client store.

Day 43. 09:30-09:45am. Ran water test: pH 8; Ammonia 0ppm; NO2 0ppm; NO3 30ppm; dKH 8.

Nitrates were too red for 20ppm & too orange for 40ppm. Still, all good for now, as I start adding more plants, & nice to know my filter bacteria stayed alive while removing all the water to add the substrate, and then adding 25 gallons of fresh water. (I kept the filter media in 5 gallons of old water until time to put the filter back together. I did put the Biomax media in a clean bag).

OH WOW!!! *dances* It looks so GOOOOD!!!

Things are really coming together beautifully for you! This makes me VERY happy! I love TMS, prettiest sand ever (in my opinion, lol) Your tank is going to be awesome - you're putting such care into setup. Thanks for posting all the tiny little details here - I'm sure you'll be helping a TON of people more than you will ever know with this!

Keep up the GREAT work!
