It's fine Canadian Fish, and a learning experience I guess. Stand is dry and I've got everything sitting where they should be again. Aww, that is so sad. I do hope they get some in soon. Then I can watch your Loach's grow up with updates :3

Not sure when I will be able to get around to rinsing the sand but the tank itself is now mostly ready.
Canadian Fish likes this.

So today I got the 80 gallon's substrate down and got it filled.

Ignore the strange reflection making the sides look doubled. This is the set up so far. I still need to carry everything in the 20 gallon over and that will take some time. The back end is uneven at the bottom but once the 20 gets brought over I will fill that in with the eco and that will be fixed.

I've got a Fluval E300 heater running, a Aquaclear 70, and another 25 watt heater I didn't know I had in the tank. I brought over one of my Java Fern plants from the big tank, and put in some old hide spots that I know the Loach will enjoy.

Aaand, everything else save some substrate that needs to be moved over is in.

That includes the fish.

So far the fish seem happy. The Rasbora are schooling together, Bluegill is exploring but knows where his favorite plant (the tall water wisteria) is, and the loaches are just being loach butts going all over exploring.

I don't really like the resin log but I know from experience loaches love it. So it's there for them till I find them a more natural replacement.

Thank you :3

So far all the fish have made it into the first actual day. They are eating, Blue Gill ate, and they all show good color.

I've rearranged the plants a bit and pulled that ugly resin log out. I shouldn't stand it being there like some horrid tumor. Since then I've balanced out the planting and everything looks much better. Temp is stable and I will be running both the Fluval E300 and the old heater from the 20 gallon in the tank to help balance out the heat on both ends.

Looks great, Fox! You really did get it up and running in record time. . . glad to hear that everyone is settling in well - those Rasa look like they're really enjoying the extra room in there :)

On another note, some ADORABLE little Java babies and some beautiful riccia arrived in the mail for me today - thank you for that, you rock! Can't believe everything got here so quickly, I know you don't live so far, but wow! Can't wait to watch them grow :D

Hope you and yours had a happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for FISHIES! And snails, and plants, and frogs, and. . .

Funny how it seems so fast for you all when it seemed so slow for me D:

Yes the Rasbora are definitely enjoying the space immensely. However I might have made a boo boo. I brought home now 8 of what I thought were Yoyo Loach. Now that i have had time to observe their markings they don't look like Yoyo's. I will call the pet-store tomorrow to get the spelling on the species name on the tank.

I'm very happy that your plants came to you in good time and health. :3 That said Riccia isn't all that demanding light wise. Neither are Java ferns so no rush on the better lights.

I'm thankful for...black worms. That's what I brought home along with the other 4 loaches and a new plant who also I am not sure what is.

EDIT: and yes the tank got rescaped a bit. This looks much better now.

HOORAY for LOACHBUTTS! Whatever they are, they're cute! I'm pretty much in love with ALL things loachey. Could they be Zebras? I hope they don't have to go away, they look so happy in there. The new plants/changes to layout look nice, great work!!

Oooh, I KNOW! Java Ferns and pretty much anything that floats is perfection for my tank right now - the few I have in there are doing great. I can't wait to get these babies in. . . they're so cute!!! Thank you!
