Just got more awesome. Stand is done with construction phase.

The stand has also been shorted as well as braced. I've decided to go ahead and take the time to get some black paint and paint the stand to match the trim. So that's going to be a project for another day. I have a feeling if I don't I'm going to be mad at myself later.

The stand is about 22.5" tall, and the total tallness with the tank on the stand is 44". Considering I am only around 61" tall this is hugely beneficial because it means I don't have to stand on a chair to do maintenance, only to reach the very back of the tank. Otherwise standing I can reach most of it's ground level without much bending.

Looks great, can't wait to see it painted and complete. Fantastic to be able to actually reach the darn thing, lol! That's one of my biggest issues with my tanks - I'm too short! :)

Me too! I had to buy a claw to reach the bottom of my 30" tank.

Are you going to keep those posters back there? lol

Is that a 90 gallon sang? it looks sooooo tall in that picture. I thought it was a 70/75....

Hah those have been there ages. I'm going to hopefully get some black construction board today and tape it to the back of the tank. It's an 80 gallon.

Jodie was eyeballing the construction board at dollarama today for that very reason.

Stand has now went through one coat of black. I'm not going to do another.

I know I should probably put something over it but I've got a time-line to get this thing up and running before I have to turn attention to other priorities. So once it's dry the tank goes on, and that's it.

I'll have pictures when it is all assembled. In other news the place I was going to pick up black cardboard from was sold out. Got some black cloth instead. While applying it to he back of the tank I had a an accident and the Deep Blue Heat Stik shattered. It took a very slide bump, and kind of slid and then just fell apart.

So an hour or so later and I had to sink money into a new heater which leaves me a bit over budget. I'll be returning the gloss I got to try to alleviate some of that. While there I got 4 of the Yoyo Loach juveniles. I have to go there anyway to get them so it saves gas and time to get them now since I was there. They are happily chilling in the 20 gallon but this is very temporary for them.

Tomorrow is Turkey Day, doub't I may do much on this whole project then. I really want to start aquascaping and filling by Friday.

Sorry to hear about your heater.

So jealous on the yoyos!! I've had them on my wishlist at my LFS since I cycled a tank in May. They still haven't gotten any in.

Yoyos and Ropefish, I am green with envy!

Can't wait to see the stand!
