You sure that stand is going to be sturdy enough?

Haha.

Too soon?

I love your choice of loaches. I have zebra loaches, they are some of my favorite fish. I have been trying to get yoyos since I had a tank finish cycling in May and my LFS still hasn't gotten any in.
Yes my bro is building it. He brought some wood and went out to get more. Sadly we didn't have enough. Apparently he thought he was "Fixing a stand" Bad communication on my part I guess. It's fine though, in another day or so the rest of the bracing will happen. Currently contemplating getting a good stain to help water proof it, and giving the wood a nice dark wood stain job. That way it's better able to handle potential water splashes during water changes and it would match the drift that will go into it.

Aww, sorry to hear your LFS doesn't not have them yet. The one I sometimes go to has a big group in that has been there for around a month. I really want to bring them home but the tank of course has to be ready. I want to spend extra time on hard-scape since I know that I am going to be working with eco and sand and need to make a good border between the two. Other current plans are to get two sponge filters that are each rated for 125 gallons to push for pristine water, but the sponges with them will be swapped to big aquaclear 110 sponges. Not sure how I will hide those ugly things. Will probably put drift in front of both and do some planting attached to the drift to hide the sponges. Both of these will be run off of a duel air-stone. I do plan to replace the one I have for one that has two spots to plug in two separate tubes.

I will be getting 2 decent 100 watt heaters too to help distribute heating both sides of the tank and to make it so that there is less stress on the individual heaters.

Yesh, he's super cute. It's amazing the difference in color from when I got him to now. He was quite a light gray but now he's darkening to a slight olive. I did get much better video today as I tried out feeding cubed tilapia.

Awww, love the rope fish!

540L/140G - 'Tidal Jungle' (Crabs) | 254L/67g - 'Backwater Pool' (Fish/Snails) | 96L/25G - ''Twisted Minds" (Fish/Snails)

I've never had any problems with 'Impulse Buying'. They're just animals that I forgot I had planned to get.

Best loach tank ever XD

Today I went out and found a 300 watt heater for 30 bucks. I also got a used Aquaclear 50. Funny thing is it's only a couple more dollars than to buy a new motor for the Aquaclear 70, and both models use the same motor. So I'm taking the 50's motor, putting it in the 70 and going to run that in the 80 gallon till I can have two sponge filters hooked up.

Hope Depot didn't carry the Silica sand I wanted so it's back to rinsing play sand.

OOOH! Been away for a day or two and you've been BUSY girl!!! YAY! I love love LOVE ropefish, it'll be wonderful to watch him grow and flourish under your care - I hope you find him some pals, but until that happens, I'm sure he's FAR happier in your tank than he was where you found him, poor little critter! Loved the video - my babies really like nomming on Tilapia, too. :)

It's awesome that your brother is building you a stand for the Loach tank. I am SO excited for that tank. . . can't wait to see it unfold!

Well, I've read they can do okay on their own. They will sometimes attach themselves in a way to another fish to try to forfill that social aspect they need. Some people report having a rope cuddle with a fw eel. I don't want him to have to resort to that and the place he came from says they might get an order in next Wed. So I'm going to cross my fingers and hope they come in.

Haha, he's currently the most active fish in the tank. It's neat to watch him glide around in a snake like fashion. Not unlike a salt-water snake.

I'm excited too! I am really really hoping we can get the bracing done today if the weather holds up. I want to get started on the hardscape but before that using my sealer to make the wood water-resistant.

I'm so jealous of your rope fish. It still kills me my tanks wasn't done cycling when my LFS had them in.

He's awesome!
