Hahaha!!! Sneaky Queen!!! I love her! I didn't know they LIKED algae, lol... maybe she takes them to keep the others in submission - good little loaches will be rewarded with an algae treat from Her Highness. OR, maybe she's trying to lure that baby into her clutches. . . OR maybe she's like a dragon, and the algae wafers are her treasures. Except that they vanish overnight!

Bluegill. . . wow. He's probably EXHAUSTED from all that insane bubble nest building, and trying to take a nap. That is one massive pile o' foam he's got going on, lol! Amazing!

That is the largest bubble nest I've ever seen a betta make!! Are you slipping him something in his food? Performance enhancers maybe?

No I swear he's all natural :V

So things went kind of interesting over night. A protien film developed in the 5 gallon and that was gross. I found a cheap used heater and went ahead and scraped enough to get some eco-complete plant substrate (the reddish-brown) and set the 20 gal up. I must have called every fish store in the area to find one that was carrying the substrate I wanted.

Blue-Gill is now installed in his much more luxurious digs.

What you don't see in this tank is that I've since added a partial back background with the construction paper that was still on the 5 gal, and I also moved the plastic mesh wall down quite a bit.

I don't know, he goes with periods of exploring and then trying to hide. It's got to be overwhelming. I'm sure in the long run he will be happier.

Better video btw. I am still considering what I might put in there. I'm not so sure Kuhli Loaches will like this substrate so they are out of the pictures.

Loving the videos, Fox! He'll get used to it, I'm sure - and love all the new space to roam. . . you're right, Kuhli don't like gravel very much, but I'm sure you'll figure something out! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I'm beginning to consider Harlequin Rasboras. I love the way they look and my tank may accommodate a shoal of 8.

Also last video for now, this is a close up on my well...bubble thing.

I was trying to stifle the strength of the current the airstone was putting out and have no idea what I made. May function like a primitive sponge filter, but I"ll have to see how things pan out with it and the tank in general.

nice... bubble... thing ;)

Rasa are sooooo pretty!!! They'd do well with a Betta? Hmmm. . . That'd be very cool!

I would think there wouldn't be too much of an issue. I'll still need to look into if they are any kind of a fin nipper (don't want that with a pretty betta like Blue-Gill).

I'm pretty sure the harlequin rasbora and lambchop rasbora both have pretty good reps. Once all the foliage comes in, getting a school of 10 or so should ensure Blue-Gill's fins stay pristine!
