I'm always amazed at what little maintenance is required with these types of tanks if you resist the urge to overfeed. This tank will becomes jungle, mine is.
Shrimp keep plants so clear of all debris that the plants are able to access all ight available to them.
I've had them in a tank all their own for about 4 months but I had to break it down because my soil was seeping through my sand cap. So instead of having the headache that is muddy water I switched back to gravel at least until I move out and get a bigger tank.
I've purchased my shrimp around July 27th of 2012 and I have had over 200 babies. Unfortunately because of living conditions with fish and a filter I have lost over 80 of them. But in due time I will have a large spawn (I have about 12 pregnant females) and I will be back in business.
