10 Gallon Planted - Work in Progress

I set up my 10 gallon this weekend. Turns out I had to return the first tank because it had a leak. Minor setback. But here are some pics. Please comment or make suggestions. I think I am going to get a background tomorrow.

Bought some plants today

Yeah, I'm planning on a school of maybe 6-8 Harlequin Rasboras and maybe an African Dwarf Frog.

Let's see...the tank was $10.99, hood was $19.99, heater $29, Play sand $5.00 for 50 lbs (still have half a bag left), driftwood was $7.99, (2) 10W compact flourescent light bulbs $5.00 ea, the plants were just under $20 total, I already had the filter...so around $100. Sheesh, it sure adds up. And I still need to get fish!

I really like the look of that tank. That is the look I plan to accomplish when I get my 30.

Everything looks great so far. Post pics when you get your fish and ADF.

Thanks Cody! You know...I wasn't too sure I liked the driftwood when I first put it in. But once I got the plants in I really like it. I think I'd like some taller plants for along the back. Maybe anacharis? Since this is low light low tech tank do you think that would be an easy plant for the background? I'd like to kind of hide the heater.

That could work. I am not a pro on live plants, however.

Do you have any room for maybe a rock pile?

I added a plain blue background and a bit of anacharis. Also got 3 fish. I've used a sponge from my 55 in the filter so hoping there won't be too much of a cycle. Test so far shows 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate.

Couldn't get very good pics of these guys. They're so little and wouldn't stay still!

love it :)
gives me a feeling i want to set up another little tank again. :)

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
