LisaC144 - i just recently changed my substrate and it wasn't to bad.. i put every one in a 10gal with a heater and a filter from the tank i was working on. drained it down cleared out all the old gravel (saved some in a pantyhose) and put in the new sand.. after i fixed it the way i wanted it i put the bag of gravel in (two weeks to be sure it seeded the new stuff well) put the filter back on my tank and every one went back in took like two hours (because i wanted to be picky) and i had no issues after!!!

Wow, that's not bad at all! I might actually give it a try. The black and white is too cliche and unnatural. I just used it for the time being because it came with the tank and saved me money at the time.

I really like it the dark sand is great and the plants will grow and it will look even better like someone else said.

I am the process of breaking down the sump and converting it into a 60G tank this is the next project. I was thinking of Discus fish.
