i love the silver sharks, are they good in a community tank?

Bala sharks are great tank mate for community tanks, but they need a great deal of room as they grow quite large (up to 14") and are very active and timid fish. They will dart around the tank and if not given enough room, will constantly smack into the glass. Balas tend to be more comfortable and less timid when they are kept in groups of 2 or more. Additionaly, Bala sharks are efficient jumpers and can clear 12" above the waters surface at even a small size.

the usually just cruise around together in a school and keep to themselves

so wouldnt b any good just to get the 1 then, 2 or 3 min??

Hi Fiona,
1 or 4 minimum is not enough to make them feel secure. As they are very skittish, so will they become jumpy. At 12 inches size, they will require you a 100 gallons tank alone for 3-4 balas.
