welp after a while of researching and loads of help. its finally started! heres some pics. quality isnt the best but whatever. there also seems to be alot of garbage floating in my water? its cleared up alot since thursday night but ill also be doing a water change this sunday. so here it is! new sand, jungle val, corkscrew val, amazon swords, water wisteria, water sprite up top and a java fern in there too. enjoy! before...... after!

Looks like you're off to a good start! Who lives there? :) You'll have to keep us posted. I love Vals, but they never really thrived for me in my softer water. Bummer. . .hopefully you'll have better luck!

im loven it thus far!only bad thing is my Buenos aires tetras have pretty much cleaned one of my wisteria plants down to the stem. i did notice alot of nipple marks on one of my amazon swords too! :(

Just keep cramming plant's in the tank.
Choose tankmates for the Buenos aires carefully.

yeah they are lil poo heads! very messy eaters too. they used to hassle my angelfish when they were babies but not any more lol one weird species of fish thats for sure. ive got 8 buenos aires tetras , 3 black skirt tetras, 2 blood fins (i used to have 5) 3 peppered corys, 2 angelfish, 2 black kuhli loaches and two ivory mystery snails.

my vals are growing very slowly after all the corkscrew val pretty much all died. there is new growth just real slowwwww............. java ferns havent died or grown... jungle val seems stable. not dying just slowly growing new lil guys/gals. wisteria is all gone along with water sprite and the newly ordered salvinia minima all got ate... swords died back a lot but have about 5 new leaves one both plants. dosing once a week with flourish comp and using seachem root tabs. this weekend im going to go take a trip around the twin cities here n check out some fish stores. i wanna get some more plants. maybe some more corkscrew val, ( which i really really like) some Anubias of some sort an see what else i can find that will grow in my 1.5wpg tank without being destroyed by my BA tetras! just thought id up date if anyone is interested lol prob not tho but thanks! haha

Man. . . I don't know what I'd do if I had plant-eating fish! I'd probably just cry a lot, lol!

I love Vals, too, but didn't have much luck with them. They grew and sent out runners but they never really thrived in my soft water/low light. Now I have cryptocoryne spiralis, as it was the closest thing I could find to the look of the vals, but better suited to my tank. Crypts LOVE my low-light tank, and they really took off. . . they're everywhere!

It's pretty frustrating. I've had these fish a while now. I got them from a buddy. I didn't know fishkeeping was popular here in mn. Should be a fun day. I've been think about cryps. We'll see what I can find!
