Picture of Black Angel in 56 gallon

This is the smallest of the two Black Angels in my 56 gallon. This tank is not completed....will be doing live plants and want to find a branch or branches for the left side. I have a nice big piece of driftwood on the right and a small one on the left for now, but I want some height possibly with some branch type pieces....not sure yet. I also have to cut a longer piece of plastic tubing for the powerhead on the left. It is down way to low and drives me nuts! I have the tube, just need to cut the right length. Lots of work to do. mI have decided to make this tank primarily Angels and will not get any other fish for it...only put in the other two very young Angels in once they are big enough. I already have the 3 platies and 3 Phantoms, so don't want any others unless maybe something on the bottom.

Here are a few more shots. I sure wish Eheim did not have green tubing. It would blend in better if it was black with a black background.

Stick a plant in front of the tubing to block it from view if you don't like it. I think your tank looks beautiful. Can't wait to see it with the live plants!

Thanks, Natalie. I can't wait to get going on the live plants for real! I sure hope it does not take too long for the plants to get tall. This tank is 24 inches tall. I will keep some fake ones in there and pull them out as I go. It may not look the best until things take off. I am going to work on my list of plants within the next day or so, and I will let you know what they are and you can take a look. I think I would like to do Pennywort...or whatever it is called. What about Wisteria. I know they are tall but what do you think....are they easy enough?

Thanks, Lisa. That is what I would normally do but since I am going to get some more live plants I did not want to buy anymore fake ones. The live ones will take awhile to cover it, but I will work something out. I had the intake tube in the middle of the tank but then when I got another one of those green and white tall plants I moved that other one (which I don't care for too much...can't remember what it is called) behind that middle fern (which I love) but with the intake tube and both plants it crowded the fish a bit for swimming in the back so I push the tube further to the left. If I did not have that sponge there, I would move it futher. I think I can move it a little further to the left. In the end, it will all work out.

What grow's real tall real quick mainly ideally set up in the back of your tank is plants like: Pennywort, Corkscrew Vallis, Rotala Indica and Hygrophilia Angustifolia.
Yea your is 4" taller then mine, so mine all reached the top of the surface in about 4 weeks or less then that...so you do the math
I pers don't like the look of Wisteria in my tank and I'd wanna say its a lil slower growing then the one's I just named, but it sure will work if that's what you like absolutely.

Thanks! I was eyeing the Corkscrew and Rotala Indica. I will have to look up the Hygorphilia...can't remember what that looks like. I looked up the ones that your recommended on my other thread.

The only thing about the Wisteria (live ones) is it looks like it may be a very light muted green (to muted) and not sure if I will like that. I like elegant looking plants but it just all depends on the look altogether..tone of green, textrue of leaves. Why did it not look well in your tank? Was it the tone? Therea are some that I really like but I don't think they will work since they need a lot of light....like the Drawf baby tears or it takes a very low pH.

I have Hygro in multiple tanks but your best bet is: Look at my "Yellows 55g" that's the ONLY thing in there are Hygo's this should take you right to the tank (if not look at the aquarium log) Yellow's 55g - 55 gallon Freshwater fish tank
For one it just didn't look *right* in the overall set up with its leaf structure and then in my larger tank it just didn't last with the fish lol and now with my Tetra set ups I wanted different plants so....I just love plants like the Rotala with the red-green mix or center piece Tiger Lotus for a red splash

Now the dwarf baby tears I have too on LOW lights; however that said I had not have any exp with them when I had the hard water @ the old house and here I have like ONE degree of KH coming out of my tap, so that may well be a factor more there then the lights why it grows well. You can try thou - But attach it to a piece of window screen and then to a rock or dw so its not floating and NOT buried in gravel; THAT I can tell ya they don't like.

I will respond more later, but just wanted to let you know, I like that thank, and really like the look of the Hygo's. I remember seeing that tank. I really like the sand too. :)
