Olympia's Tanks :)

Well they're called "rheophiles" which means they live in fast flowing streams, but don't mind just regular aquarium flow. Because of this their swim bladder is a lot heavier to keep them on the ground, and they tend to just hop along the floor of the aquarium.
Also, they mate for life, and if one fish dies, the other will often live it's life out without ever mating again.

Someone on here is selling manzanita, and even though it'll be like $100 with shipping.. I'm tempted.. I need more money. Getting $35 tomorrow from an old AC I sold so there's some money!

That is REALLY neat! Fish. . .are cool! Good luck with the Manzinita. . . that's an AWFUL lot to spend on some wood, tho. . . :/

It is.. but it'll be 3 pieces large enough for the 90.. bah, I don't know. It's like $20 for a nice big piece which is what I pay at petsmart for a little chunk. Just seems like A LOT to spend in one go. xD

That's true... when you take the SIZE of the tank into consideration, it's a good deal. Bummer we can't just go to CA and get our own for free, though. It's a gorgeous hardwood, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Whatever you end up with, I know you'll make it work!

20 gallon stuff~

Marble hatchet fish-




Little threadfin- you can see (even with no friends) his colours came in quite a bit- his bottom fins are black and his top fins are yellow. The LFS still hasn't come up with any more of them.. I've decided that I'm not adding anymore fish to the 20 gallon until the 90 gallon is finished, UNLESS some threadfins show up.





Awful whole tank shot (I think the photos are coming out dark because it's night time and the whole room is pretty dark? I don't know )



It's grown in.. A LOT. Removed a bunch of plants because there's no breathing room for the inhabitants!



Okay.. big moment, the buffalo heads make an appearance! Turning off the filter for a few minutes I was able to get some shots from the surface!

HAHAHA!!!! THE BUFFALO!!! I love them! And I'm a total sucker for anything with 'threadfin' in the name, I swear. I hope you manage to get the poor guy a shoal, but am happy to hear that he's doing so well. Your 20g is looking REALLY nice,it's grown in beautifully - and good call on stocking slowly. You're going to have your hands full for a while with those 'monsters', lol! I'm looking forward to watching both of these communities come together!

Oh it's so hard in Canada.
I found one place.. But I think I read "fish shipping starts at $80" and closed the page. $80?! They use a special reptile/fish shipping company we have in Canada but still.
Aquabid has almost no Canadian retailers, I check quite often for anything I need, and I'm out of luck finding online stores.
I did find an aquatics society forum for a town 2 hours away, just thought of this, I should sign up and ask there.

Needless to say I've learned never to buy "the last little lonely guy."

Ah I see. Sucks it's so hard find more. Well, at least when you buy the "Last lonely guy" it goes into a nice tank where he gets well cared for. :3
