My planted 55 gallon

This tank is still a work in progress. I got rid of two GIANT swords a few days ago and am really loving the tank again. All my plants are happy as well, since they finally have light again. The ember tetras where added just yesterday, so they are not quite use to everything yet. Also I found more endler fry, the last thing I need! I will have a video of the tank up tomorrow, showing all of its inhabitants.

Here is the video, let me know what you think. It shows the before, during, and after a large feeding. The tank has a few large surprises. I love watching the behavior in this tank. You can notice the new ember tetras, kept their distance at feeding. New fish tend to show lots of prey behavior.

Wow! Your tank is so full of life it's amazing! Must be really fun to watch everyday ;) What kind of eel is that, and did I see right in that he has no eyes? Neat!

Yeah it is fun to watch. The eel is called a rubber eel or Typhlonectes natans. He's a amphibian and you are right that he is blind, they go mainly by scent. There are two in the tank, the one in the video was the smaller male. The big girl wouldn't wake up. It does take time or the fish to get use to them. The new ember tetras will probably avoid them for at least a week. It took the SAE a month before he would go near them. The loaches where jumping on them from day three. It actually took the eels a while to get use to that, being blind and all. The friendly loaches would scare them.
