My first aquarium

Yes, they are Boehlkea fredcochui. They are playful, active fish. Should be fine with Glowlights, and a nice contrast in colouration. I would not add any sedate fish though, like gourami. Some substrate fish will be fine.

I was thinking about doing the glowlights next weekend and then possibly a Whiptail Catfish the week after that as you had suggested. Will this still be okay? Maybe corys down the road but not for a while.

So this week Ive seen some more growth, especially in my Wisteria. I added 2 Anacharis to give my tetra some more places to hide. I also uprooted one of my (what I believe to be) water spirte and allowed to to float for some cover.

My new inhabitants are:

7 Cochu's blue tetra added last weekend
8 Glowlight Tetra added yesterday

So far everyone is doing well.. the colors of these 2 fish are absolutely gorgeous against each other and I cant wait til my Water Sprite covers more of the surface for some subdued lighting and really helps the colors pop!

I tried to take a few pictures of the fish but its really hard to catch them without a flash on my digital camera.

Anyways! Heres my 2 week picture update. Looking back at my first picture it is crazy how much growth there has been in such a short time!

So this week, I let one of my Anacharis float for some more surface cover.

I bought a mystery snail.

I got 3 otos. They were all eating cucumber and then 2 just disappeared overnight. I looked under all my wood and rocks.. Im still baffled as to where they went. I had one of my powerheads turned off. Im starting to think they might have swam into it.. its the only place I cant check. If I dont see them by tomorrow I may just get 2 more.

Anyways.. All my tetra are doing great and I bought a few plants off of aquabid that should ship monday! Very excited since my LFS doesnt have TOO much variety. I'll post new pics when I get the plants.

Here are my pictures for this week. My Wisteria is growing SO FAST! Its so beautiful though. Sorry for the dirty glass, I just did a water change and I need to get out the windex it seems!

OH! I also got a new light. I changed from the 50/50 55w 10k light to a 6700 65w light. I can already see a huge decrease in my previous algae problems..All i have left is the remnants of some string algae I'm still trying to get cleaned out..but no new growth. Its great!

I just realized how much my Anacharis has grown in just one week. WOW!!
