It's ok. They only way my fish could escape is to kill them by flushing them. But that's a terrible death too. My mom wouldn't let me walk out of the house with a fish in a bag to give to someone else. I could kill my fish.

Wow, that's REALLY strict...sorry 'bout that. You definitely don't need to kill them though. They will fit for a little while longer provided you do water changes several times a week. If your mom won't let you get a bigger tank when the time comes and they just can't fit anymore you could always find them a good home, bag them and walk out of the house with them hidden (in your coat maybe) then tell your mom that they died because they couldn't fit in the tank. I do believe that you care very much about them, and I wish you good luck.

Thanks... I like Kim's idea! Cuz it wouldn't be irresponsible of you if they "died" from being in too small of a tank if you asked for a larger one! Then there are tons of options for other fish, altho I know they would never be the same, and I'm really sorry! How often do you do water changes? I would say 30% weekly for 2 Goldfish in a 5g tank.... I am really sorry for my rude behavior.... I know this isn't a good excuse, but we just started testing, and I was getting up early every morning to catsit, and I had a ton of studying to do, so I was griping at everyone! lol... Well I hope the best for them, and you! maybe ur mom wil suddenly have a change in heart (know, unlikely, but I guess its possible) lol.... people don't really get what fishies meen to us! my mom thinks I'm weird cuz I talk to mine the way you would to a puppy! lol ok..... well best of luck with your fish!

I don't believe in lieing tho. But very sneaky and it's a goood idea. I hope to get a gravel vac and a testing kit for the tank. But my mom isn't evil. I love my momma very much and she loves me too. Shes very loving and carring. She just has way too many rules. Please know that.

Please don't get the wrong immpression, I beleive you, I just mean a change of heart towards the fish. Some people just don't really see the connection between fish and pets if you know what I mean at all....

wouldn't that harm them, tho...... with so much water changing? actaully, what would be best is 15% once a day, that is what I do in my qt tank which is always full over its limit! Its a 5g, too and it doesn't take too much time!

I don't the difference between 50% twice a week and 15% every day in stress level. WC's shouldn't be stressful for the fish either.

Fish enjoy water changes. The only way they can be stressful is if a large one is made after the water hasn't been changed in a long time.

I would think that they would enjoy clean water.
