It's okay yall.. I totally understand everyones opinions. But i have to tell you i've been through this debate already on the other forum im involved in. They've already worn themselves out freaking out about my Goldfish. The truth is that my mom won't let me get a bigger tank. That's that. Period. I can't get one because my mom doesn't understand that Goldfish need bigger tanks. I'm just working with what i have. I wish you would respect me. If I could get a bigger tank, i would, trust me. I add new water everytime the water goes down due to evaperation and change the filter and clean the tank. I understand that my tank is overstocked and has Goldfish in it. But like i said, i'm just working with what i have. :)

take them back to the store. its not reallt so much that its overstocked (which it is) as the Goldfish won't have room to grow, so their insides will grow and their outsides won't, then they will be in great pain. if you took them back their are tons of options for a 5g tank. Please consider this! I'm not asking u to get a bigger tank, just to take them back! Then you can get some awesome other fish! Or you can give them away to someone who has room for them! (maybe a 55g?) I know I'm coming out as really rude, but goldies need a very large tank! Fantails can get over a foot long, and normal goldies can get amost 2 feet! Luckily I think u have all fantails? Really, u don't need a bigger tank! TAKE THEM BACK OR GIVE THEM AWAY, OR SELL THEM ONLINE!

They are both regular goldies. I can't take them back to wal-mart. The conditions there are even worse. There are 20 or more goldies in a 10 gal at walmart. I don't have any local pet stores other than walmart except for Eric's Tropical pets and it's way on the other side of town. I don't have anyone to give my goldies to anyway. I love them too much. I know what you're thinking, if i really loved them, i'd give them up. But that's not the way i see it. I don't mean to be rude and i don't want to start a fuss. Please understand my point of view. I'm very confused. My friend who keeps fish says you don't need such a big tank, others say i need a 20 gal. It's confusing.

the problem with goldies is that they do make a lot of waste,and toxins can build up
pretty quick.not only that,but the small space is not good either,if your fish are commets
then they have the potential to grow to 14inches,i had some in a pond before the herron got them,
they were beautiful.
If mom won't go for a bigger tank,would she perhaps let you make a water feature in the garden ?

Give them away on craigslist or something then. There are no excuses as to why you can't give them anywhere.

I think anyone that knows what they are talking about knows that tank cannot support the fish you have. You made an impulse buy when you bought them. If you have no room, don't get the fish. You wouldn't keep a large dog in a small kennel its whole life, would you? Of course not.

I was a newbie when i got these goldies. The woman at Walmart said i could get those Goldfish and put em in a 5 gal. So i really didn't know any better. I didn't know how the small space could effect the fish at the time. You can't blame me for that. But now i do know, but i've grown attached to these fish. I love them sooo much. And if you knew my mother, you'd know she would say no before you had a chance to explain.
