What rocks are you using. Are they limestone?
And I'm particularly loving the substrate in this setup, is it a darker Quartz variety?
Also, very interesting choice of fish. You're the second person I've in my entire life who's decided to keep Leaf Fish.
Are the Leaf Fish particularly hard to take care of? I heard they have to be weaned off live foods and should be in a species only setup to avoid aggression.
Either way, good luck and keep us updated. |
I am using Chinese Zebra Rock and ADA Amazonia II soil. I will never go back to gravel or sand after using soil!
I have only been keeping leaf fish for about 6 months now. I started with the guyana leaf fish and they actually took to frozen food on my first attempt after feeding them live one time. Just recently I purchased the malayan leaf fish and they didn't take to eating at all immediately, but soon did once I they realized what the guyanas were doing hahahah.
I actually think they are incredibly easy to take care of, and I have kept them with other species, including smaller cichlids, otos, and cories and they seem to do fine. They are very inquisitive and they have HUGE mouths. I won't even try anything
Neon Tetra sized.
As far as aggression goes: I have experienced none. At all. Between different species or same species they are honestly one of the most chill species I have ever owned.
Thanks for the compliments!
