ive been away from this forum for a few months i thoght i would re-introduce myself with a selection of pics of my "collection" as it stands :D

this is my 20g planted tank in here is a pair of keyholes ,4 corys,a bristlenose and a bunch of cherry barbs

this is my 30g now with plastic plants after the introduction of....

these guys i have 3 silver dollars now nice fish they eat alot of plant matter hence the plastics

i still have all 4 of my dwarf puffers this is there 8g


this is my juichromis dickfelidi,s tank they are productive pair ive had lots of young from them thogh they do eat most of them they share this with a few danios and 3 massive apple snails

last but not least my prolific shellies this is a male

is 8 gallons really big enough for 4 dwarf puffers?

Depends on the sex of the fish. Recommendations vary but usually it is 2-5 gallons per fish. Leaning towards 2 for females and leaning towards 5 for males.

is there an obvious way to tell?

When they are very young, no. When they are a bit older the females will be rounder than males and males will have wrinkles aroung their eyes (sounds mad, but it's true, LOL). Males may also have a more prominent line down their bellies, but this is not always the case.

its 10g but im not sure what part of the tanks volume is actully taken up by the filter there tank size is depends purely on aggression and stopping them from attacking each other its a temporay aragement but they seem fine with it as theve grown up together when i move my shelldwellers up to a bigger tank the puffers will get there 18g i dont want to get stuck with to many large tanks at the moment as soon as uni finishes im moving
