After the green water

Well my green water finally went away so I figured I would get a picture before anything else happens.



The Anabias Nana is the centerpiece for the tank. I have another one which is actually a cut from the main to the right of it.
The Anubias Afzelli is growing slow, was given it free by my LFS because it was pretty much dead.
I hope it will come back in the near future.

The other plants are:
Water Primrose, Ludwigia palustris (back right)
Primrose, Ludwigia repens (middle front for now)
Wisteria, Hygrophila difformis (back left)
Bacopa Australis (Front left)

Needs some work with the aquascaping but the green water lasted for almost a month so I haven't been able to arrange as I would like.

Lovely tank! Planted tanks are lovely and the neons are really nice as well.

What's the little albino fish?

Glo Lite tetra
There are two kuhli loaches in there but they hide all the time. Hoping they will eat some of the hundreds of snails I have but they need to get used to the tank first. Just moved back in a couple days ago.

The tank looks great Chris. Considering that you couldn't even see the back of it not so long ago, that's some difference!

And your plants look so healthy.

Well I have a long way to go before they rival yours again but I had to start somewhere. I thought the Water Primrose was Primrose so I am glad I finally got the real thing. I think it will make a really nice backdrop once I get it to grow a little more and can plant it thick in the back.

I plan to grow both the Bacopa Australis and the Ludwigia repens from submerged to emersed sooner or later but I need to get a good bunchy of it so if I mess up the emersed I can try again. Haven't had much luck yet trying to grow emersed.

The plants do all look really healthy.

You're a plant guru- does wistera suck up nitrates pretty badly? I have noticed a decline in nitrates since introducing Wisteria and I'm not sure if it's a random coincidence, or if it's the Wisteria. I thought it def. was the Wisteria but now I'm not so sure as I have it in a different tank, thoguh a much smaller, les healthy one, and it doesn't seem to be affecting the nitrates.

Wisteria will such up so much of the nutrients that other plants will suffer and suffer quickly from low itrates and even low phosphates if you don;t dose regularly. Add high light and/or CO2 and it is even faster. To give you an idea, I dose 30ppm of NO3 in my tanks every week and when I test before the water change my levels are never about 15ppm.

Give the smaller one time to get going and make sure it has plenty of nutrients to eat and grow. Once it gets going it will suck them up very fast.

I try to keep mine small because when I let them get too big I see a lack of growth from my crypts and most of my other plants.
