75 Gallon Rescape: Bichir Tank

Hehe, I don't know about that. I've thought about little else but my tank up-grade. I've been making lots of sketches to plan out how I want to do every detail so I have a game-plan the moment the bigger tank gets here. I want to waste no time getting it set up. Trying not to stress my fish any more than necessary.

This set up will solve so many problems. Each bichir will have their own hole scaled to fit their needs and won't have to share. Even Queen gets her own two feet one. I am hoping this will reduce a lot of stress and help all three get along better. This also means that when I build up something on top for the Loaches I won't have to worry as much about them chasing the two senegals out of their territory.

Remember how I once said that my golden apple snails were laying eggs? I located one teeny tiny baby golden Apple Snail earlier and he's absolutely adorable. I couldn't get a good photo unfortunately :C

Oh YAY! I'm so glad that (at least) one made it. That is way cool, Fox! I was so sad when you told me the eggs didn't make it! I bet that is the cutest little thing. . .

I've had multiple batches of eggs laid. It might have come from one of those. The tank is stuffed with trumpet looking snails though so I've been yanking the eggs of the apple snails as I see them.

I moved some riccia and placed it on a towel for like 20 seconds...when I lifted it up...there were over 30 baby snails on it. Super tiny little snails...oh man. Not as cool of snails as you have though :\

So that's where the babies were hiding. After pulling some stuff and moving it around I think the trumpet snails got displaced. It's insane how many are in there D:

So the logs appear to be ready. Though my family nearly gave me a heart attack last night. I left the pvc in some water in the tub and put a stopper down. Someone did a load of towels (when ever we do laundry it temporarily back-washes into the tub). So a bit of the dirty laundry water leaked through the stopper. I replaced the water and put some Biome in there. Hope that gets rid of anything that might have touched my pipes.

Today I put my sand into a big tub and will be taking it outside to start the rinsing process. Tonight I'll put it aside covered in the back-room to be ready for tomorrow.

Edit: Kind of cute, one of the trumpet snails was riding around on the back of one of my big apple snails.

heehee, even Apple snails need a good algae scrape from time to time ;)
