I've added 4 black skirt tetras, a pleco, and a
Chinese Algae Eater to my tank since my last post. They all seem to be getting along fine, a little nipping here and there but everyone have full, bright color and none of them are losing any fin. The tetra and barb schools actually seem to be intermingling, so that's nice. I've also planted the tank with a number of plants, may have went a bit overboard, looks a bit like a jungle. I'll post some pictures later tonight probably.
After watching the fish I have in the tank now for the last few days, I can say that I'm starting to lean away form the betta. I really don't want to have my betta's fins munched down to nothing. However, I do really really want a betta. The tiger barbs were supposed to be my "test" fish, but they've all lived and I'm attached to them now, so I guess I'll have to work the tank around them.
Edit* I just read how the
Chinese Algae Eater could potentially become quite the nuisance in the tank. I may have let the lady working at the pet shop doop me into getting that one, I asked her about them and she didn't mention anything about that. I'll have to be more careful in the future!
