Also, awesome bichir!
I've heard a solution to the uprooting problem with goldfish is to plant the plants in small terracotta pots. Anchor the plants in there with large stones. I've never had to do it, but it might be worth a shot.
Edit: You should submit some of those "singing fish" photos to the Photo of the Month contest! |
Haha, that's what I thought when I saw it. Though the second one struck me initially as an "OMG" face.
Yeah two defiantly slimmed a bit. It's really noticeable compared to the bloated things they looked like when I got back from my trip. That makes sense that one of them might be a different gender (and the one that is bigger). They have to be bigger (females usually) for egg bearing. Er...I imagine they are egg bearing? As opposed to live?
Several people have suggested that. So far every once in a while they sort of get one up. But I've rearranged the tank recently and so far they seem to finally have gained some understanding that those are not real plants and leave the bottoms alone. I took the air-wall and had the suctions go on the base wall instead of the floor since I don't have the LED's going (None of my fish like the LEDS at all!). I also took the log and moved it over to the left hemisphere of the tank and placed some plants there, and did some middle planting with the rest.
What's nice is with three of the plastic ones they base is a bunch of pebbles sort of cemented together with a clear resin? So they can't really uproot it. When ever I go for a 100 gallon in the future those will definitely be my plastics of choice.
I'd submit the pictures but uh, I have to have 25 posts before I can. If the time limit is not gone by the time I get that many posts I'll definitely submit them.

LOL When I saw the first two shots I thought they were saying,"La, La, La, La," LOL, then I thought Open Up and say Ahhh. |
Hehe, some of these make me wish people would have some fun trying to add captions to them. It would be interesting to see what different things people's minds come up with interpreting the expressions.
