GAH! I'm so sorry about the babies! WHAT a bummer. . . I really hope you can get some older ones from the shop this time. . .

Otherwise, I have to say - oreo substrate and everything, the tank is really just blossoming before our eyes. It's looking fantastic. . . what is your water hardness, by the way. Your snails do so well, and they breed - but loaches like things softer. And of course I have no idea about Bichir. . . what temps do you keep? Just curious :)

That said NICE....how did you get your other to agree to that?

EDIT: Also I brought two Golden Zebra Loaches home. Each one is roughly 4 inches long and definitely not fodder for the Queen. So far the Yoyo's treat them like one of their own and they school/play/fight over being top fish.

That's why they call them apple snails.. they're as big as apples! :P it makes me giggle that people put those in like 3 gal tanks with a Betta.

Hey Sang, curious as to what you think: Longfin senegal- pretty or abomination? Also do you think they'd have any difficulty with life at all?


I was googling the senegals, and "longfin" was added onto the suggestions, so I searched it.. My first impression is "oooh pretty!" But not if it's at the fish's comfort..

I guess a lot of people would consider it "silly" too, like long finned oscars.

Edit: Also I have no idea how they breed these things into all these fish.

Me too! I've seen pictures and video of those. I think it's just a genetic "Defect" that they have been trying to selectively breed. I don't see any harm in it and I've not heard any negatives about it either. Then again I have not dug up much research.

Hmm, well you don't disapprove! I have a 90 gallon and was looking for "small" bichir species and senegals came up so I'm looking into them. I really love the long fin look, instead of dinosaurs they're like Asian dragons. I may pick one up if they're not too expensive vs a regular finned one!

"Long fin" anything I generally don't see a problem with. Except long fin serpae tere, that's just the saddest most ironic thing (probably the most famous fin nippers).
