Haha, that was so much
FUN! It's nice to hear the voice behind the name, you have an adorable tiny accent. . .
My favorite bits include (but are not limited to):
"I think fish-keeping is an
adventure!"
"we all have our thing. . . some people prefer . . . possums or skunks. . ."
"I said 'hi' to my gouramis - and they came up and they said go **** yourself, because they just don't like me."
"Well! Isn't THIS interesting?! Somebody over here is showing off and being a badger!"
"... some of them can hurt you..." O.o
"That's okay... we all misjudge, I guess, places we think we can fit into and we can't..."
YOU are
ADORABLE! I want more chatty videos. . .
That said, UG! It sucks about your Ropes! I'm so glad you said 'hi' at the right time to notice they were missing - and that they're all okay! Your little ones HAVE been getting into a lot of trouble this week!
You're really right - and it's funny - I tell people who keep fish, but aren't fish-keepers (you know what I mean) ALL the time. 'Take the time to
LOOK at your fish. Spend time with them. . .watch them and get to know them, and how they are. . .as a group and as individuals' and they act like I'm crazy! I don't get it. . . why keep them if you aren't even going to LOOK at them?! People giggle at me when I refer to my fish as pets - because that implies that I interact/love/have a bond with them. I do.
THEY might prefer possums or skunks ;) But if you're going to keep them, you should at least like them and enjoy them - at least take the time to watch your tank for a little while a day. I just don't understand what's so odd about that. . .
The only thing I don't really agree with is keeping your hands out of the tank. This may simply be because of the difference in the creatures we keep - mine really can't hurt me, lol. But I like to hand-feed my fish, and they don't seem to mind. The Tetra won't eat from my fingers - not yet, anyway - but they're more than happy to swim around and nibble at my arm, and none of them hide when my hands are in the tank, so I kind of feel that for my fish, it lessens their stress, rather than adding to it. I've found that they've become
LESS skittish when I'm in there because I have to be - for water changes or whatever, because they've become used to me being there, and bringing them food. . . not that I hand-feed every day, but often enough that they're okay with it. Just a random thought :) But again -
MY fish can't hurt me, they're entirely different animals - then your bichir, especially. I wonder if this will change when I get gourami. If they get upset over me being in the tank, then I'll stop. I don't want to upset anyone. . .
