White fuzz forming in my tank and I don't know why...

I've recently developed white fuzz in my tank and I'm not really sure how to get rid of it. I've had my tank for a while and I use algae discs to feed my plecos and my other bottom feeders. I've been using the same brand for a while and this is the first time it has ever happened and I'm kind of baffled as to what to do about it. Does anyone have any ideas?

If you reduce feedings,and vaccum the gravel during weekly 25 percent water changes ,the fuzz may dissappear. Fuzz is sometimes associated with decaying, or rotting, excess food.

How long has the tank been cycled? There's also the possibility of the fuzz being a sign of a bacteria bloom if you've change enough of the water and cleaned too much of the filter media - you'd get into a situation where the bacteria has to re-establish itself and may cause a white fuzz/foam/bubbles/whatever...

You'll find that the answers you get from people here will be that much more detailed if you give them more details about your tank: size, water parameters (pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, gH), how often you feed the fish and how much, how often you change the water and how much, how often you clean the tank/filter, etc.

Did you do anything differently lately that might have caused this?
