Hamsters? Seriously? Oh my goodness, I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight thinking of a hamster swimming for it's life to get away from a giant fish. No, No, No, that won't be me. My fish will have to deal with frozen or dried, they are NOT getting hamsters or anything of the sort.

That being said, I bought an Oscar to primarily deal with the livebearer fry. I think the hot weather has somewhat depressed the tendency for the mollies, platies, and swordtails to drop babies, so all I have is two small tanks: one with about 25 molly fry and the other with minnows which I buy now and then. It gives the Oscar some exercise.
And no, it doesn't bother me much to toss them in.

Every culture has their own guidelines to what is acceptable for food. I wouldn't eat a dog or a cat, but I might eat me some hamster meat. :o

Fish don't have these kinds of cultural taboos; they just HONGRY.
