Well water benefits

my house has running water from a well, are there any advantages or disadvantages of this? the guy at the fish store said that algae would grow more easily but the water is better for fish.

I have well water and very little algae issues ever. My plants thrive in it, the fish do well overall a good thing to have at a tradeoff of limiting some fish you can keep because they can't handle the high mineral content
