Water for snails?

I have a small tank on my window sill growing snails for my F8 puffers. I do a 50% water change on them every 3rd day and up until now I've declorinated the snails water using my water conditioner for my puffs but read somewhere that if I filled 2 water bottles with tap water and left them outside for 24 hours they'd declorinate naturally, is this correct?

They will mostly dechlorinate, as long as the bottles are not capped and allow for gas exchange with the surrounding air. The chlorine used tap water is chlorine gas, it will leave the water just like CO2 and O2 when left sitting stagnant. If you use a bucket with a bubble it works even better.

check if your water has chlorine or chloramine. Chloramine does not evaporate, it must be removed via water conditioners.

Yep. And since heavy metals are also possible, I'd just use dechlorinator as a precaution. But they tend to be more toxic at acidic pH and I doubt with acidic pH, your snails can live long.
