I have a ten gallon with a Jack Dempsey and two convict cichlids and I am going to have to upsize it soon because all of my fish are becoming to big for the ten gallon and I was thinking of going to a 20 gallon and I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions
You will need a bigger tank than that if you want to keep all the fish.
JD's can reach 10" long, and need a 55G at the least to house them. Convicts can reach 6" and breed like crazy, so a 20G will last a good month or two. Either way, these fish cannot stay in a 20G long term, and a 55G is the bare minimum.
Yep, I agree. You might want to keep the 10g around though, because you'll likely have some fights between these fish as they get older so having a hospital tank would be a big help.
