Okay, checked the numbers on the 55g tonight and I got 0, 0, and trace nitrates.
Been up and running for more than 2 months, seeded bacteria from the 10g (media, mulm, filter squeezings, etc.) and did a fishless cycle (with ground brine shrimp) until after the/a nitrite spike.
Even though there are not many fish in there (5 peppered cory, 4 grown dalmation molly, 1 molly fry 3/8" long, 1 juv.gourami, 1 female Betta, and assorted tiny snails) shouldn't I see a little more nitrates?
I did just stick in a very small handfull of
Java Fern, maybe that ate up the nitrates?
