Is there any such thing as fish that are safe with Shrimp?

Just like it says... Is there a such thing as a species of fish that are good with shrimp? I would like to get some shrimp but don't want to just put them into the tank as a snack, I would like them to live comfortably.

I have more then one tank and am hoping that I could have shrimp in at least one of the tanks. In the one, I have a couple Angels, a Gourami and oddly enough they are the peaceful ones. I wonder about the Cories on the bottom of the tank, will they eat or harass the shrimp?

I started off with only 12 CRS and they were introduced into a community with yoyo loach, golden bristle nose plec, congo tetras, rummynose tetras, bettas, cherry barbs, and rosy tetras. They flourished!!! I then got a 2nd aquarium and moved 12 into that and they liived with corys ( unfortunately 4 went missing and 1 commited suicide) and now between the 2 aquariums i have roughly 2 - 300 crs! Iv recently introduced opaline gouramis into 1 of the aquariums and they dont bother the shrimp at all. Just try not to have them with agressive fish and youl be fine

In a planted tank, how do you fertilize the plants without killing the shrimp? It is my understanding that they are fragile when it comes to copper (in fertilizer) Can they deal with the fertilizer or do you just not use it? My plants seem to need it.

I know Amano shrimp are said to be the best for eating algae in a tank but what about Ghost Shrimp and Red Cherry Shrimp? They eat algae as well, no?

There is only one shrimp listed in the "Profiles" and it is probally not what you are looking for; but check it anyway. Go to top of page and click on tropical fish profiles and then click on "Other Freashwater Creatures". Then do a internet search on freshwater shrimp compatibility.

I don't know if any shrimp will take care of any noticeable amount of algae, maybe, but I doubt it so I certainly wouldn't buy them for that.

If you are just worried about them getting something to eat, there is no need, they'll find plenty.

I keep ghost shrimp in two of my tanks, and at least some are still around. They are hard to find! Both tanks are planted, and I use Flourish and root tabs in both. I don't' think I'd get any shrimp that cost real money though. Ghosts are only about 33 cents each so no big loss if a fish gets a snack...

I've never had problems with ferts and my Sakura shrimp. My shrimp tank has marble hatchet fish, threadfin rainbowfish, sparkling gourami, and three lined cories. Also ADFs. I've never had a problem with the adults being eaten. I don't think you can avoid the shrimplets being eaten, but with enough cover enough will survive to grow the population, I've found.

Thanks all. What I was most interested in was whether or not people use fertilizer for their live plants without harming their shrimp. I have no interest in adding shrimp only to kill them off with the copper in the fertiizer. Glad to hear that you had luck with yours Geo.

I was hoping to find some Red Cherry Shrimp locally as they might show up a bit easier in my tank. Hard to see the little ghost shrimp when you have old eyes like me.
