Would reduce feeding's to once,every other day, and about half a dime size amount or less, until the tank has cycled .
Would also see that no one else is feeding the fish other than you.?
Could be combination of excess food and or waste contributing to ammonia levels.
Be sure not to clean the filter material in anything but dechlorinated water or old aquarium water you take out during water change.
If you don't over feed,then filter material shouldn't need cleaning very often if at all, while the tank is cycling.
Number's indicate the tank is maturing and you will know when ammonia and nitrites read zero for three or four consecutive day;s and some reading for nitrAtes appear's.
