Where do I start...oh I know - I hate it <g>
First, it's a theme tank not a biotope. A biotope is an aquarium that attempts to simulate the natural environment, right down to creatures in the substrate. This theme tank is about as unnatural as it gets. Now I got nothing against video games.... stayed up some nights till the wee hours playing a few back in the day. But a video game theme tank? That's even worse than sunken ships, deep sea divers and treasure chests. Or sea shells and coral in a fresh water tank.
Did I say I hate it?

Your giving me a lecture on biotopes ? Lol I posted it for a bit of fun on a entertaining value !
Besides ..... If you were Mario or luigi this would be a natural environment thus being a "Mario biotope" lol

I think it's a great show tank for a kids playroom or bedroom. Of the castle and the green pots are designed for fish to hide then I think it's genius and it's only like someone making a slate cave or using a coconut shell

What's in the tank? Neon Tetra, some sort of shark that will probably reach a foot, looks like a pair of Bala? A Dwarf Gourami, what's the last thing? Looks like a single tail Goldfish to me, which will also reach over a foot if it makes it. None of these fish are compatible, minus the gourami and tetra, which both need tanks with dense cover. They aren't cave fish like cichlids, they need full cover. They won't use a cave for comfort, it's simply unnatural for them to do so.
Whoever built this tank doesn't know a lot about fish.
I am a sucker for a good themed tank but this just doesn't seem well thought out.

There will always be clueless people about the right type of fish for the size tank that they have. Clearly the fish aren't the focal point of the tank.

As for the tank itself, I think it's awesome but def. not my style.

I totally agree , i think for a kids room or playroom that tank is awesome !

Id like to turn it into a shrimp tank. If you get enough Java Moss and other clinging plants to grow on all the levels, you have an awesome tank!

The point isnt the fish. Maybe one of you should contact them and let them know about thier tanks residents...maybe they dont know! But saying the idea of a fishtank is to recreate its natural environment is completely untrue. Why would there be lime green gravel? Or even gravel at all? A fishtank needs to be suited for the fish you would like to keep, but other than that, colors, textures, themes, have at it! The fish dont know that the substrate is yellow and the plants are all purple. They know that they can hide in the plant, and search in the sand.

Wow, Abbeys dad harsh!!! I have a sunken ship in my tank and I think it looks really nice, its all coved in algae and the fish love eating off it and hiding in it.. and it has a Moai statue theme with the ship!
