Substate suggestions?

The rock/stone/landscape places around me have basalt. It is actually gray in colour, looks to me like limestone, but they say it is basalt. If you have any quarry or landscaping outlets, try them.

I started to wash the sand, then my Kids begged me to do it, so wasn't much labor on my part. But I feel your pain it took 2-3 hours to clean the 50lbs of sand for the 20G.

I bought rocks from the landscape yards around here.

You could take vacation to some mountains and bring home a souvenir.

I have two Blue Mystery Snails and have seen them "attack" the shrimp pellets. So I might have overfeed once or twice. I want Nerite snails and some MLS, just trying not to order on the internet unless I have to. I don't get into Seattle much, but I might try and find some around town.

I checked out the petco sand last night It seems smooth. The grains were 1MM on average, a few smaller a few larger, no more then 2MM. It looks like it might be a good substrate. Now I want to find a store that has that Caribsea Peace River.

The gravel was basically the standard 3-5MM stuff.
