So I swapped out the two lights on my 55g and cut some acrylic to fit and we love the way it looks and its homemade moonlighting. Whatcha think.

I like it. What Coralife light fixture is that? Is it the one that takes 2- 28 watt T5 normal outputs? I think that's what I may end up getting even though I already bought a shop light at Home Depot. What kind of rocks are those? I'm thinking of using think rocks like that to layer into the substrate to make a rock wall kind of thing. Sort of like a shale cliff wall only small scale for a 55g.

Thanks! The coralife fixture I am not sure but the specs on it are 2x96 W, one light is blue and the other is white. I got this with an acrylic tank I picked up on Craigslist. It looks awesome. The rocks are just some slate I believe we picked up from a local landscaping business here. He let me fill up a 5 gallon bucket for 5.00 plus tax so I got two buckets....LOL. Brought them home and soaked them in bleach over night and then rinsed and did the vinegar test on them and in they went.

I know some look that way to me too, others didn't...so I figured I"d mention it in case there's nice live plants hiding in there

Oh man...you been here for almost TWO months and hadn't converted to live plants yet...I'm doing something wrong here then....

I want to believe me Angel but I dont want to start over with adding substrate and losing the gravel. Also my new lights would not accomodate them...

gatorsfan, you may not be intending this, but it occurred to me so I'm mentioning it. You shouldn't keep any lights over an aquarium with fish on permanently, even the moon lights or similar. Fish should have at least 10 hours of absolute darkness daily. Otherwise, stress will occur and that brings on disease and poor health and long-term other issues.

As I say, just a heads-up in case; some people think they can leave the moon lights on during the entire night period.
