Should I make a filter baffle?

Hi all, still playing around setting up my new tank and I've come across the diy baffle in another thread. I've got a Marineland 150 Penguin filter with bio wheel and it's got a pretty good current coming out of it. I've got new Water Sprite settling in and the current pushes it all to the other half of the tank. My planned fish are a school of Flame Tetra and a school of Sterbai Corys. Will either of these fish suffer (or prefer) if I baffle my filter with the water bottle thingy? Will that help my plants to be able to spread out more on the surface of my tank or will it just redirect it to new places?

It's always a judgement call - I was using a diy baffle, but lately have been running without it. There's a bit of a current on that side of the tank, but the other side is pretty still. Some fish don't seem to mind the current, others tend to favor the calm side of the tank.
