Shark Teeth

I have about a pound of small shark teeth, (about a quarter inch or smaller),that I picked up on a beach about 30 years ago.I was brain storming about what to do new to my 35 hex and thought of using the teeth for an addition to my gravel to darken it up a bit.The teeth are black because they are fossilized.I wondered if the root portion,which is porous,may contain too much salt.Which may not be good for the fish.I have silver dollars,Giant Danio,corys,and Bristlenose Pleco.I don`t know if this sharp "gravel", could injure the fishes` mouths`,or not.Would it be OK to soak the teeth and do a few water changes to leach out salt before putting them in the tank?I know that putting shells,coral,and such,in a freshwater tank isn`t right,and I think it looks wrong too. But I thought the teeth might just work.Any Ideas?

My only worry is that they might be too rough on the cory's stomachs...

Also, I believe silver dollars are brackish fish, and need marine salt added to their water... Is it possible you have hatchetfish instead? They're fine.

(I'm not reccomending you add salt, since it might kill the cories. Only pointing out that you might have a predicament.)

They are definitely silver dollars.The corys could not swallow them.The teeth are bigger than their mouths.

Oh,I get it now.By stomachs,You mean the corys belly.I had to think about that for a minute.

The teeth are a nono with corys or any other bottom dweller, even an "armored" pleco. They will almost certainly gut your fish. I would keep them out of any fish tank.

I would not put them in my tank, for the same reasons others have stated. I would be more concerned about the sharp edges than I would be about salt leaching into the water.

OK, Ya`ll talked me out of it.Guess I`ll just go with dark gravel if I still wanna darken it up a bit.Thanks for your replies.
