seeding a new tank with established tank stuff

have a new 75 gal tank and an established 30 gal tank in process of cycling the new tank before moving the fish to there new home.old tank has a fluval 205 new tank has a fluval 405 i took some gravel from the 30 gal tank and put it in one of the baskets in the 405 then i took 2 of the 4 sponges from the 205 and cut them into peices and place it on top of the bio max in the 405 then i took half the biomax from the 205ad added it to the 405 so i assume im seeding this new filter well. as for the 75 gal tank the water temp is set at 85 cause i heard bacteria grow faster at warmer temps and i have added ammonia to the water to get the ppm to 4 or 5 the ammonia is pure no surfacants or perfume or scent no bubbles when shook its been a week now and the ammonia is still the samelevel as day one any ideas???

Are you adding food or anything for the bacteria from the established tank media to eat? If not they will die instead of multiply.

not adding food im adding ammonia to keep the bacteria feed keeping it at 4ppm

What are your nitrite and nitrate readings? 4ppm ammonia may be a bit too much for the transferred bb colony you may want to drop it to 1-2ppm and try to use tetra safe start. You wont know where you are in the cycle until you test nitrites and nitrates.

nitrite 0 nitrate 0 the ammonia is showng signs of being consumed because it has dropped to 1 ppm from 4 so i addded a little more ammonia to get it to 2ppm will test nitrite in a couple days thanks for help

well today i got my first nitrite reading so i added more ammonia to bring it back to 2ppm and we will wait on the notrite spike now. man its only been 7 days i like the fishless method its saves fish the stress and i get to use my brain.
