saving babies versus plants

I am treating my molly/Platy tank for ich. I took out all of the live plants, and behold, now have fry swimming around. ( I know at least one molly is pregger). Should I put the plants back, and risk losing them to the ich med, (kordon rid-ich plus), or let the fry become snacks?

Does the Kordon product say it may harm plants? It might if it contains copper. Aside from that, it might be best to let nature takes its course rather than risk the plants. If the adult molly get through this, they will breed again. You'll probably have more fry than you will know what to do with.

It does'nt say, and I even went to the Kordon website to check. All it says not to use with invertebrates, which I guess technically a plant qualifies under. I plan on putting back the carbon canister on Friday, and will probably replace the plants on the weekend.

Plants aren't invertebrates. Invertibrates are snails, shrimp, and the like.

But if it doesn't say "Do not use with live plants" then I would assume it was okay for plants. Still I'd save the plants before the babies. New plants will cost money whereas new babies will just happen.

If you really wanted to save the fry you could buy cheap temp-plants to put in till you are ready to put the live back in.

That ^^^ or buy a little breeder net and move the babies into that until the ich is gone. But I'm with everyone else save the plants. Who knows they might not even eat the babies.

Have you ever tried to net a baby molly in a 110 gal. tank? JK. Thanks for the ideas, all of you. So far the few babes I have seen are still there, so maybe they won't get eaten. I'm hoping the plants will survive too. Darn Ich !

Anyway I would just take the plants out still and hope for the best. If that tank is that big hopefully the babies would be able to get away somewhere.
