Red Lights Causing Stress?

I just changed the 2 clear aquarium bulbs in my 10 gallon tank to red bulbs. I turned them on and yeahh, they're VERY red. The whole tank is very bright and the red is intense, the effect is almost like the water is dyed. It looks amazing and seems great to me, but somehow it seems like it could be stressful to actually live in it. In the tank is a Blue Marble Lobster alone.

not sure about the stress heck I don't even know if lobsters see in color but if you want a lesser red effect you might go back to the clear bulbs with just a red filter paper over the glass, might not be as intense.

Wow, that is pretty intense. Don't know if it would cause stress or not.

That 2nd pic of the lobster hanging his claws over the edge of the pillar cracks me up for some reason. He just looks like he's had a hard day. LOL

Thats a very nice looking lobster! From what I have learned about Lobsters it is that they think they can see images, detect movement and might have color vision, but they primarily use chemoreception to detect things (IE detecting chemicals in the water) and touch. So in short. I have no idea if it would be stressful for him. sorry.

I think however, that if no one can come up with an answer, it may be worth watching how he behaves, and seeing if he acts differently. maybe do some mini research on your own. The down side, is that if it DOES stress him, you might lose him and it is a little cruel. But either way it would be good to know.

Yea that makes sense I'll keep an eye on things see if the light has any effects. I can always unscrew one of the bulbs and it cuts the redness in half. Thanks for the responses
