Quarantine Tank bacterial media

Hi all,
I just purchased a 10 gallon QT tank and I was wondering what everyone uses for their biofilter when setting up their QT. I've read using gravel in a stocking, old filters..etc.
If I was to use an old filter, I was thinking of using the extra slot in the penguin 150 on my regular tank and leaving the QT filter in there indefinitly until I need it. The only issue I can think of by doing this is water flow / agitation restriction.
