Ammonia and nitrite levels seem high enough that I would personally do a small water change...maybe 15-20%.
Dont feel so bad with having this issue with your tank...my tank has perfect water parameters and yet remains cloudy despite every different option for cloudiness in a tank isnt the issue...tried clearifiers, phosphate removers, water changes, algae removers, gravel vac, new filter cartridges, additional filtration media to reduce cloudiness, and NOTHING. Still cloudy as anything!! Sometimes, it just doesnt make since to me with the tanks!!! lol

I had earlier heard of a product called Tetra SafeStart, which I thought about using, but couldn't, since I was unable to find a retailer that carried it. I happened to find it yesterday when I was out. So, I bought a bottle. When I came home, I first tested the water: ammonia was 1.0, nitrite was 2.0, and nitrate was 5.0. I then added the Tetra SafeStart (yesterday evening). At first, I freaked, because the water turned totally cloudy a few seconds after adding it, although fortunately, the water cleared up about an hour later (a warning on the bottle about temporarily cloudy water would have been nice!).
Anyway, I tested my water again this morning: ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate about 20. Yippee!! I don't know if it was the SafeStart or if I would have received these readings in any event. But, I'm very happy that the cycle finally seems to have ended. I have also found a new home for my platys and multiple babies and they will be going to their new home. I shall wait a while to make sure my water readings remain stable, following which I shall select new fish...males only!
I'm sorry to hear about your cloudy water. I wish I could help, but I'm still at the learning stage. I wish you luck with your new filter, and I hope that solves the problem. Thanks once again for all your help.

If those levels maintain for at least a week, then I would think it is fully cycled and ready for a couple of new male fishies :)
As far as my cloudy tank, after talking with some other TFK members, it for sure has to be my filter, as others with that same filter have had the same issues, so in a couple of weeks I am going to go buy a new and improved filter, lol. Thanks!
SafeStart...that's one of the beneficial bacteria boosters, right?? I use something similar by API for both of my tanks...when I first cycled them a while back I put it in as directed with both my tanks and the larger one cycled in like 3 weeks, and the smaller in under 2 weeks (it's only a 5 gal with a 10 gal filter). So, yeah, that could have given it the boost it needed! YAY either way!!!
