Typically that happens when the surface of the water isn't agitated enough. I got film on my water surface until I pointed the spray bar more towards the surface to keep the water moving.

Your situation might be atypical because of the solution you've been adding to the tank.

What type of filter are you using? __________________

tertatec 1200 and there is more movement on my water surface than there used to be as I dont have a reactor on the end of the spraybar anymore.
