I was looking at the marineland C series canister filters and the boxing week price is under $100 for both the 160 and 220. I don't see any method to adjust the flow so I wondered if a unit rated fo 30 gallons would still be suitable for a 37 gallon tank or are there issues that I will wish I had gone to the 220 which is rated for 50 gallons? I don't really want a huge "current" in the tank.
My gut says go with the 220. From the manual it looks like it comes with all the necessary parts and, seeing as I am not going to pick it up, this is crucial. Kate is NOT going to want to have to work from a parts list. That and I might want a slightly larger filter for some possible future consideration.
I am not likely to use the carbon but this unit allows replacement of the various filter media similar to the aquaclear HOB unit.
Sadly, I placed the tank out from the wall to allow for the HOB unit and now the tank is full. I think that I will empty it enough to slide it back the 3", this will help with the murk anyway.
The only issue that I might be overly concerned about is some of what I hear regarding the hoses coming loose and casing some level of flooding. I would be putting the unit in a small tub with a water sensor on it as I DO NOT want to have to ever deal with a leak going un-noticed.
