male bettas are solutary fish and prefer to be alone and also tetras must be in a school of six or more.also a 2.5 gallon tank is too small to hold a betta and a Neon Tetra let alone 6 neons.so you can't only have one betta in that tank and nothing more.plus if it is a male betta he will most likely kill the tetra.now if you had a bigger tank i suggest a 10 gallon tank since tha is what i keep my tetras and guppies in you can by six neons and at least 4 female bettas and they will all be fine in the tank or 6 neons and one female betta and they'll be fine but have that 2.5 gallon on stand by just incase the female attacks the neons.but no more than 1 betta in the 2.5 gallon and no other fish can live with him he has to stay alone
