How much light do you get through those windows? If the tank gets a lot of sun exposure you could get algae problems.
I agree that it is a bit "out in the room" but if that's your best wall, better one tank than none, right? | Kids like to climb. In the event one of them decided to pull a chair up to the tank and then climb to get a better look at the fish. I can almost envision the chair slipping out from under the child ,or being pulled from under the child ,and the child is then hanging from the side of the tank.
With that said,, At five years old,, they are old enough to understand that this should not ever take place.
