Alright, I am thinking about changing my stocking list.. and would like a little input or suggestions.

The tank is a 36G bow front with diftwood and live plants as you know, and a sand substrate.

I origionally planned for some Harlequin Rasboras, but am now thinking about a school of Pseudomugil Rainbow and another school of Mosquito Rasboras. With some Angelicus Botia Loaches as bottom dwellers. Or a school of corys if the Botias are too large.

I would kind of like something that gets a bit bigger than the Rasboras and Rainbows but haven't found anything that is appealing yet.

Please let me know what ya think.

You don't want to put any of the "dwarf" species of rasbora in with larger fish that might well eat them. Boraras brigittae is very tiny, as are all six species in this genus. Just a caution.

You also have differing water parameters with the Boraras and Pseudomugil furcatus; the latter is best in basic water with some hardness, opposite entirely of the Boraras species.

Would the Botias be better with one of those? I really like the angelicus Botias and know I want them but which of the others mentioned would suit them better?

I do have a group of Botia kubotai ("angelicus" loach) in my 90g, and I have a group of Boraras maculatus [near-identical to B. brigittae which I did have a while back) in another tank. I would not put these two together, simply because B. kubotai should have some space (they grow to five inches and need preferably a 4-foot tank) and the Boraras species get totally "lost" in such large tanks. I had this occur in a 4-foot 70g some time back. The larger loaches might find the Boraras attractive as food.

I have two of the "dwarf" species of loach [Yunnanilus cruciatus and Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki] in with my Boraras, and I've not seen any issues and all the Boraras are still present after more than a year now. I also have the coral red pencilfish in this tank, Nannostomus mortenthaleri, and this has been a superb combo. The intense red of the pencils matches the intense red of the Boraras, and among all the wood and plants they are fine together. This is a 3-foot 33g aquarium.
